Response to Boston Globe article on Decrease In Traffic Tickets, 07-31-2005
As usual a spin is put on the issue regarding the tickets by the newspaper. The article wants you to believe that the Danvers Police Department only wrote 229 tickets for the year. That is just a bunch of garbage. The department wrote closer to 3,000 tickets in 2004 which includes warnings, money fines, summonses, and arrestable motor vehicle charges. The article should let readers know that the 229 tickets they say were written in Danvers in 2004 are specifically money fines. As usual they fail to put the whole picture in and don't recognize summonses, warnings and arrests as part of overall traffic enforcement.
